All because natural inflammation for periodontitis affects the whole body. As a result, the risk of such abnormalities as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular, respiratory and kidney diseases increases.
The study was conducted on a group of 3000 women. It turned out that women without periodontitis got pregnant on average after five months of efforts, and women with this disease on average after seven months. In addition, periodontal disease had an increased risk of pregnancy complications, early births and miscarriages.
At the same time, it has been observed that periodontitis has a more negative effect on non-Caucasian women. So far, however, this relationship has not been explained.
There is one conclusion of the study: if possible, visit your dentist and treat any inflammation before planning your pregnancy.
